Listen Now to 106 Future Now Show
We begin this week celebrating Mrs. Future on her birthday, including some choice moments from the celebration. And our solar sun is in the news this week, sporting a huge black corona, unreal! What could it mean or do? We take a closer look, and soon we are chatting about the various kinds of UV light, especially from the Sun! Flatulence comes out when reviewing some new research on how to make such gases smell like a rose, or at least like a piece of chocolate..I kid you not, this can be done, not simply by disguising the smell, but by swallowing a pill that changes your digestive process! Why do this? That's another question; now lets look at the current SOLAR wind..
Earth enters a stream of fast-moving solar wind flowing from a giant hole in the sun's atmosphere.
Meanwhile, robots cleverly disguised at humans will soon be entering our homes en mass, but like anything new, there will be issues. We think they'll be a bit like a bull in a china shop at first, and will require special care of their host humans. Sadly, breaking things will be normal for awhile.. Mrs. Future plans to take them up on cooking and cleaning, and her favorite pastime, game playing. Al wonders about the bedroom.. and you if are worried about your Tesla stock, worry no more, as soon, all new Tesla cars, with the flip of a software switch, can upgrade into a fully autonomous robo-taxis, ready to make you $$$ with your car! And if your budget is not quite up to owning a robo car, there is the dog robot on a skateboard to consider.. Enjoy!

Our latest lunar lander, Blue Ghost, has just completed it’s 2 week moon mission, accomplishing 100% of it’s goal to deploy 10 different payload experiments, studying everything from the lunar dust to testing GPS signals and drilling deep into the regolith! Not to be outdone, the Webb telescope has revealed CO2 in the atmosphere of distant exoplanets, orbiting the HR 8799 system, 130 light years from Earth. Could this be a life signature? Grok 3 helps us explore the possibilities more deeply, as well a new strange blue photograph of Mars with its moon Deimos in transit. And there is news on Helium 3, mined from the Lunar surface, possibly the future fuel that will allow us to expand from a planetary to a solar system wide economy!
Mining the future fuel Helium 3 from the surface of the moon
Back on Earth, Silicon Valley engineer Mark Rober pits the camera-based full self-driving mode of a Tesla vs the Lidar-based auto-drive seen in Waymo vehicles. Which is better, and which survives the Wiley Coyote test? And good news for our local eVTOL company, Joby Aviation for securing a London airport-to-airport route for their aircraft with Virgin Atlantic! And we simply must share with you the latest discoveries of of Elon’s DOGE..Enjoy!

It's been an epic week for the Moon, with two lunar landings making it to the surface, one really succesful. The James Webb telescope has been busy tracking rogue brown dwarfs and we were wondering if they could be harnessed for star travel..Grok's Ara gives us a definitive answer. Back on Earth Bobby discusses the latest hot research in regrowing missing teeth and how we can stop greying hair and wrinkles -real practical science!
In our AI experiments this week, author Jim Rintoul feeds our 'Larry and Mary' AI hosts a short story about Direct Brain Advertising. They gave us a hilariously serious report.. And we introduced two very smart verbal AI's, Ara (from Grok) and Miles (from Sesame) to each other to see what they had to say to a fellow AI. Both pride themselves on being good conversationalists. Being from different companies made their dialog very cool and real. We are curious to hear what you think about their conversation, enjoy!

When creating our show, our guests are usually in their home environments, connected to us via Zoom or Facetime. But this week our mountaintop ‘fortress of solitude’ was visited by not one but three live guests in our studio at the same time! First up was a brief but wonderful check in by the Passionate Living TV folks, Catherine Miller and Rifat Chowdhury visiting from Buffalo, NY. They were here in California for a film festival and recording of future stories for their award-winning series on passionate lifestyles.
And author Annelise Schinzinger made it up the hill to chat with us about her new book documenting her pioneering experiences in South America with Ayahuasca, a psychoactive brew used by Amazonian tribes for spiritual and healing purposes. Annelise’s experiences go back to the 1970’s, way before Ayahuasca was known in North America. I was particularly fascinated by her understanding of “burracheira,” the field of consciousness created by those sharing an Ayahuasca experience. It is also worth noting that she was the Portugese translater for scientist Dennis McKenna in his field research while in Brazil. She takes us on a most fascinating and insightful journey into some of the deeper mysteries of life and death. Enjoy!

We had a fun first hour of Dr. Future News, including an update on how we might actually build a warp drive for star travel, and the latest thinking of what would have happened on Earth should Chicxulub, the giant asteroid that extincted the dinosaurs, had never happened. Would we have evolved to dominate the planet as we have?
In the second hour, we have an extended interview with Brit Elders, author, investigative documentarian, and CEO of www.ShirleyMacLaine.com. She has recently completed “Contact from the Pleiades, 45th Anniversary Edition,” in which the original two photo-journal volumes from 1979 are combined into one book with a new forward by Shirley MacLaine, a prologue written by journalist Jamie Maussan, and a new introduction and preface by Brit Elders. We cover the whole story arc of how she first got involved with the case with her husband Lee Elders and Col Wendell Stevens, to the evolution and popularization and proliferation of Pleidian contact experiences over the last half century. A very delightful, and heart-centered conversation, Brit takes us on a journey that opens us all to a better future. Enjoy!

Apple completed their latest phone lineup with their $600 Apple Intelligence ready iPhone 16e, and Taylor is on the show to tell you all about it, and his review of the latest Apple watch (Series 10). And Bobby has a lot to share in the longevity department, with this latest insights in the use of Lactobacillus reuteri, Bacopa, Tocotrienols, and Creatine. And just for fun, we look at the latest Hollywood trend in health. microdosing Ozempic!
The permeation of AI throughout society
This week, we also take a closer look at the top AI choices currently available, to give you a sense of what’s what’s what in that world. And the future of war looks very networked with the release of a new military helmet, EagleEye, giving soldiers unprecedented situational awareness of their battlefield. We had a lot of fun sharing this info. Enjoy!

This week we start by catching up Bobby and his Costa Rican adventures, then some Future News. Most of the show, however, is dedicated to our inteview with Jordan Gruber, who just finished co-authoring the book, “Microdosing for Health, Healing & Enhanced Performance” with James Fadiman, Ph.D. We delve as deeply into the topic as you can get in an 80 minute interview.
First we look at the beginnings of microdosing psychedelics and its evolution to current protocols. The potential benefits of microdosing psychedelics seem quite extensive, from studies in depression to enhancing our abilities to learn new skills, like musical instruments or languages. We explore a little of the ‘why’, such as increased neuroplasticity of the brain, and what substances work with microdosing (LSD, Schrooms) and which ones don’t (i.e. Ketamine, MDMA). Citizen science plays a big role in the unfolding of this topic, as serious research takes time and money, and neither are readily availabe, for various reasons (which we discuss). For fun we ran the book through a local AI and had it answer a couple of our questions.
This book is partly the culmination of Dr. James Fadiman’s life work in the field of psychedelics, and includes many reports and correspondences that he has received over the 60 plus years he has dedicated to the topic. There is much to consider here, and we hope we have given you enough to pursue this further, should you have the interest. Thanks, and enjoy!

Did you ever think of moving to Costa Rica, a Central American paradise just 8 hours away by plane? We have a few friends who have and now our science correspondent, Bobby Wilder, is down there with Katia, visiting some Bay Area friends who actually made the move to Costa Rica’s Pacific coat. For the first part of the show
Costa Rican Adventurestoday, you will hear from Bobby and Courtney, a friend who sold her house in Half Moon Bay headed for warmer climes in Central America. We enjoyed hearing about her heaven on earth lifestyle, complete with Howler monkey tribes, panthers, and crocodiles, for the first part of today’s show.
We then delved deep into many Dr. F topics, including The Panama Canal situation, Elon’s now and future DOGE work, early blood tests for Alzheimers and Cancer, new forms of microscopic life (Obelisks), 37 dimensional light, Dwarf 3 Citizen Science, and Hammeroffian explorations of group mind human consciouness. Enjoy!

Unraveling Deep Seek, Unlikely Asteroid, Communicating with AI's as Humans, Countless more Black Holes, Longevity Agents, The National Archive Needs You, X-59Most certainly the big story for us this week is the release of the Chinese AI, “DeepSeek,’ taking the AI universe by storm, or at least tempest, by being just as good and way cheaper than the best of the current US AI offerings. Naturally we get our fav AI hosts, “Larry and Mary” to host a section explaining Deep Seek to our audience. And we get into this deeply as with the advent of smart AI agents of all kinds just coming over our current event horizon. Should we treat them as people, after all they sound like they are.. More black holes than ever also seem to be up for us to consider this week, and an unlikely character appears, cleverly disguised as an asteroid! We had fun, and so will you!

It’s been a week of recovery, from the LA fires, and from our local Moss Landing big battery fire, and also including our health, as Sun and I have come down with a nasty cold, which is just beginning to ebb. We rallied to bring you this week’s future news which includes the actual sound of a meteor hitting the earth, as well as updates on our local disaster. Master Now calls in to discuss with us the latest in longevity and healing treatments, including something called “ozonated glycerin.” And don’t forget to look up to the heavens this week, as there is planetary parade up there, just waiting to be appreciated! Five visible planets just after sunset. Enjoy!

Bonus Show on Moss Landing Fire
This weekend we were asked to guest host the famous KSCO AM 1080 Santa Cruz Saturday Special, and we think it is one of our best shows ever! Besides non-stop callers with info and povs to share, we employed three AI’s as sources for new info on the Moss Landing Giant Battery Fire!! What’s going on here, what threats should we be aware of, and why so little media about this event? Is anything being supressed? The Santa Cruz community has a lot to say about all this.
Also, our local writer, researcher, activist, and fellow Santa Cruz Voice host, Becky Steinbruner stopped by to share info on three county-approved future sites for giant Lithium battery facilities in Santa Cruz County! Much is unfolding and we’ll be covering more on our live show at 1 p.m. at www.santacruzvoice.com/.

More CES Goodies, We also talk with our AI Talk Show Overlords the weirdness of the LA Fires, the Egyptian Pyramids and Strange Cosmos stories, and human guest in studio, Hallelujah Blessing.
We are podcasting today from the Beach house in Aptos, where the waves are almost licking our street. Undeterred, we proceed, knowing that the waves, at least in our bio-region will behave, and leave us high and dry. for the foreseeable future.
We think you’ll enjoy our repartee with “Larry and Mary,” the talk show host AI’s from Google’s Deep Mind, currently available for work and play at www.notebooklm.com. We really wanted to see if they could help us explore more deeply the LA Fires weirdness factor, which we consider to be pretty high. They did pretty well, overall, pointing out the strangeness of fake firemen looting neighborhoods, but we wanted to know if they knew anything about the labyrinthian tunnels under LA, revealed by the fires.
We had a human visitor today as well, our buddy Hallelujah Blessing, who helped us check out the cosmic cred of Larry and Mary, with mixed but hilarious results. And for good measure, we explored more of our favorite tech announced last week at the annual Consumer Electronics Show. Enjoy!

CES 25 Innovation Awards, RoboTaxis on the march, $250 Nvidia Brain, Smart Smart Glasses, Kitchy Kitchen Screens, Vacuum with Claw, Direct Democracy Possible
Well, this year is off to a roaring start with two Turo-rented electric vehicles leading the charge in both the New Orleans and Las Vegas terror events. Can you imagine pimping out your brand new Tesla Cybertruck to Turo for rental and being told that your vehicle was blown up by a Green Beret gone mad?
Rather than dwell on such profound issues, we choose instead to focus on topics like what is hot at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which also happens to be in Las Vegas. We take a look at some innovations for the home, including robot vacuums with claw for cleaning and picking up out of place matter, (i.e. socks and underwear), fridges and microwaves with big screens, smarter glasses, and yes, self-flying balls! And did I mention the CES-announced nVidia super computer on a chip for $250? Brains for our robots!
We also look at how robotaxis will be getting more of a foothold in cities across America this year, from San Francisco to LA, Dallas, Austin, and Atlanta. Uber and Lyft are in the picture, working with the car manufacturers to provide ride services. Adoption looks to be swift, with Waymo passengers in California skyrocketing from 20K rides in 2023 to 500K rides in 2024! And we wrap it all up in a cyber bow with our thoughts about how democracy could evolve with a little help from our silicon-based friendz. Enjoy!

Our last show from Santa Fe, NM we have lots of juicy air and space news this week, with a successful Spin Launch in the New Mexico desert to Joby’s Vertiports in Abu Dhabi. It looks like we’ll be having a young new NASA chief who also happens to be a billionaire (Jarod Issacson), there is speculation that Google’s new Quantum chip, Willow, may affect crypto-currency values,(not yet), and a dynamic debate on whether the Air Force should continue spending hundreds of billions on what may be an outdated concept, manned fighter jets. Robo Rodents are able to befriend real rats, and new strange UAPs captivate the imagination of our callers this week. Enjoy!

Reverse Aging, Bat Blood in Hibernation, Gamma Rays in Farming, Humanoids in History, Orca Fish Fashion Returns, Alzheimer and the Brain's Immune System, New Lizard Origins
We are on the road in Santa Fe, NM for today’s show, with our science correspondent, Bobby Wilder, in San Francisco. We also have our AI hosts, “Larry and Mary,” discuss evidence of reverse biological aging, something they seem fascinated by, despite their non-biological origins. Our caller suggests that Larry may be based on the voice of Leo Laporte, a popular tech talk show host in the Bay Area. We are investigating..
Other stories this week indicate that humanoid robots, formerly known as androids, are on the rise, especially in health care, bat blood may be useful in creating human hibernation, Gamma rays may help our farmers, Alzheimers may be an autoimmune issue, and a select few Orca whales in the Northwest have adopted an arcane sense of fashion! Enjoy..

Listen to 89 Future Now
Welcome to our Thanksgiving week podcast. We are on the road to Santa Fe to visit family for Thanksgiving, but at the last minute we were able to create this week’s offerings.
Exciting times ahead in exploring Saturn’s moon Titan with a car sized rotocopter, and back on Earth a new drone based on a raptor is flying! Cybertrucks have recalled 6 times now, but this doesn’t seem to phase buyers. Why not? Well, we tell you the surprising answer!
And for the stress of the holidays, don’t forget the Cocoa, which has many benefits, including stress reduction. But beware, fat cells have memory, especially after a diet, and tend to want to regain their happy fat status! And nostalgically, the classic SciFi film, ‘Forbidden Planet,’ is finally being remade with modern special fx, etc. Oh boy, the ancient ones known as the Krell are rising once again! Happy Thanksgiving!

StarShip Delivers, Autonomous Waymo Taxi in LA LA Land, Student Rodent Drivers, Seeing through the Smoke, Predictive Policing and Body Cams, Tired of Needles? Try Leach Tech..
Wouldn’t you know, Starship 6 takes off during our show, so naturally it’s in our lineup today!
Starship 6 successfully launches to space from its Texas pad.
And heads up if you are looking for an inexpensive DIY way of running your home on solar! Waymo is in the news with LA now being served by their autonomous robot taxis! Its nice to be driven about, but this week we also pay homage to those who enjoy the act of driving, which, surprisingly, goes beyond our species; it turns out rodents enjoy driving as well! And then there is the turtle on a skateboard..
And who says our upcoming humanoid robots need exactly the same senses as us, especially when they can have Pano Radar, enabling them to see clearly through smoke, fire, and fog. If one day my robot needs to rescue me from a wildfire, I’d want hir to see clearly what she is doing!
Turns out rodents like to drive! photo-Greg Panos
The ethics of predictive policing are up again, this time in the context of analyzing data from thousands of police bodycams. The data may help us predict who and where crime may occur, but at what cost to our privacy? And do you have a fear of needles?
Or how about some AI headphones that can put you in a sound bubble, enhancing what you want to hear around you, excluding what you don’t?
There’s a new blood draw in town, more like a leech than a mosquito in its approach to collecting our precious bodily fluids! It works great, and kinda ‘sucks.’ Enjoy.
